Minutes Summary for April 6, 2022

School Board Work Session Holdingford Public School

The Holdingford School Board held a School Board Work Session on April 6, 2022. Members present: Elissa Ebnet, Sarah Binek, Ed Feia, Lori Opatz, Robert Knettel, and Pat Meier.

Absent: Evelyn Martini. Also attending was Superintendent Chris Swenson, Business Manager Garrity Gerber, and Adm. Assistant Linda Zapzalka.

Mr. Gerber presented a spreadsheet showing a breakdown of the expenses and revenue sources for the Summer HVAC/Science Lab Projects. These projects are set to start once school is out. He entertained questions and then led a discussion on the parking lot project. Mr. Gruber informed the Board that depending on how the bids come in, the District may have to make a decision to use some fund balance dollars to complete the parking lot project. The consensus of the Board is to move forward with getting bids.

Mr. Swenson informed the Board that Food Service is in need of more freezer space. Mr. Gerber explained the possibility of extending a shell out towards the parking lot to house the freezers. The Food Service fund has the money to cover the freezer expense but the building shell has to be paid by general fund dollars. The timeline for this project is still being determined.

Mr. Gerber proposed extending the Business Office Assistant position for another year and then to reevaluate the position again at the end of the next fiscal year. Mr. Swenson offered his support in continuing the position. The Board was in agreement.

Committee Reports:

Mr. Meier reported the Staff Development Committee would like to possibly host a Professional Development Day in Holdingford.

Mr. Knettel reported on the recent Com. Ed Advisory Council meeting. There has been a huge increase in participation and plans for many activities for the summer. He also reported the new Assistant is doing very well and will be handling things while the Director is out on maternity leave. Mr. Swenson updated the board on some revisions to Summer Com. Ed. programs due to summer construction projects.

This article is a summary of the minutes. The full text is available for public inspection at the District Office or online at http://www.isd738.org/school-board-meeting-agendasminutes.html.
