Arnold L. “Arnie” Kleve, 100, of Albany, formerly of St. Francis, passed away peacefully on his birthday Dec. 20, 2024, at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany with the Rev. Julius Beckermann, O.S.B., officiating. Entombment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Dec. 27 at the church.
Arnold Leo Kleve was born Dec. 20, 1924, in New Munich, Minnesota, to Anton and Elizabeth (Knoblach) Kleve. On October 15, 1946, he was united in marriage to Marie Van Heel at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis. The couple farmed near St. Francis until 2004 when they moved to Freeport. He was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany and St. Francis Men’s Society in St. Francis. Arnie enjoyed playing cards and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.
Survivors include his children, Robert (Nancy) Kleve of Albany, Alice Eggert of St. Cloud, Marilyn (Roger) Zimmermann of Albany, and Carol Kleve of Albany; daughter-in-law Dianne Kleve of Freeport; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Rosie Schaefer.
Arnold was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Kleve on July 12, 2008; parents; son David Kleve June 29, 2023; son-in-law Ray Eggert; an infant son; granddaughter Jody Kleve; brothers and sister Sylvester, Victor, Arthur, Walter, Werner, Gerald, Ray and Herbert Kleve and LouAnn Wensmann.
